Napoli (Naples and the Two Sicilies)
The Kingdom of Naples was the southern part of the Italian peninsula
(traditionaly known as Mezzogiorno meaning "midday" because of the sun's
position over the Northern Hemisphere at midday). Despite the name "Kingdom
of Naples," the Kingdom was officially styled the Regno di Sicilia
(Kimgdom of Sicily), confusuingly one of two southern Italian Kingdoms
called Sicily. Until 1282 the Kingdom of Sicily included the southern
mainland and the island of Sicily, which following the division of the
kingdom split into two separate states bearing the same name. Though
however, they shared the same Monarch under the Crowns of Aragon and then
Spain from 1516. The use of the style "Kingdom of Naples" is generally
used to distinguish it from the island Kingdom of Sicily. The two
Sicilies were re-united once more from 1816 to Italian unification in 1861.

Sicilia
The Kingdom of Sicily (Regno di Sicilia) was a state on the island of Sicily.
Originally founded as a Norman county, it was also called the "Kingdom of
Apulia and Sicily" until 1282 when it was split from the mainland which was
also styled the "Kingdom of Sicily," but usually refered to as the "Kingdom
of Naples". From 1302 the kingdom was sometimes called the Kingdom of
Trinacria but also known as the "Kingdom of Sicily beyond the Lighthouse."
The two kingdoms became one again from 1816-1860 as the "Kingdom of the Two
